About The Kapoteswara Temple:

            Chejarla is a village in Nakarikallu Mandal, Guntur District of Andhra Pradesh. Chejarla  Kapoteswara Swamy Temple is devoted to Lord Shiva. This temple includes 3 sorts of structure called “Nagara”, “Vesara” and “Dravidian”.From the inscriptions it's far recognised that this temple became constructed at some point of 3rdand 4th centuries A.D.The the primary shrine of Lord Kapoteswara is long apsidal building with a barrel roof.This temple faces in the direction of's east direction.This is the most famous temple on this place.On the day of Mahashivaratri, heaps of devotees from throughout Godavari districts arrives here and worships Lord Kapoteswra with most devotion.Lord on this temple can be seen in Lingakaara Roopa.The deity Kapoteswara who gave a part of his very own frame so as to save a pegion which took safe haven with him.Even today you can see massive cavities on the idol as though portion were scooped or cut out.It is stated that the cavities on the idol were shaped while kapoteswara cut off his personal flesh so that you can keep a pegion(kapotam).The Idol of lord shiva here can be visible right here with the cutoff at the top of the Shiva Linga.There are  large cavities.

History Of Chejarla Temple: As according to the Legends of this temple Sibi, The son of Mandata and grandson of Yayati who turned into ruling the dominion of Kashmir had  brothers Mehadambara and Jeemuthavahana.Mehadambara took permission from his brother and reached the vicinity Cherum Chorla as a part of his pilgrimage wherein Rishis acting penance inside the caves of a hill referred to as Devarakonda..
